Why most people stall out
Most people start downsizing in the living room because it feels like the big job. By the second weekend they're worn out and surrounded by half-sorted piles.
The checklist starts somewhere else, in the order that keeps you moving. It covers:
- What to do six months out, before you touch a single box
- The room order that gets you quick wins first
- A simple way to sort everything you own
- The paperwork to find before you list your home
- Getting the house ready for photos and showings
- Moving week, and the emotional side nobody warns you about
Who put it together
I'm Lili Whittington. I've sold Florida real estate for more than 20 years and more than 450 homes, and I hold the SRES designation for working with seniors. Before real estate, I trained as a life coach. Downsizing is where both of those come together, because leaving a home full of memories is as much emotional work as it is physical work.
